High King Koi

Description

Poor Koi doesn't have a single colored piece of himself without being terribly butchered in some way, shape, or form. I thought that this was a shame since his son and grandson both have colored pictures of themselves looking somewhat dignified. So I sat down and over the last two days I threw this out. I'll openly admit it's still pretty sloppy, it was all done in photoshop and I'm trying out a few new things. I got a tutorial on how to do a different style of hair from my friend, Nerpin, and I'm playing around with how I want to shade feathers and such. I'm not too pleased with Koi's wings myself but I like how the fabric looked and I think I drew him pretty well. My backgrounds still bite the big one but... oh well.

Koi was the first guardian of life and in being such he was also the first high king of the realm. Because he was created, rather than born, he never really connected on a more intimate level with much of the realm. He existed in his task and became overconfident in his reign and ability to maintain peace. He managed it well enough for a respectable amount of time, founded the council of worlds, the order of virtue, and lived as a fairly good ruler despite being somewhat aloof. Unfortunately for Koi, someone did manage to tug at his heartstrings and slowly melted away at his defenses. In adopting an orphaned child, he opened up a weakness for mortals to exploit and eventually it led to his undoing. Even after his death, his spirit lingered on, watching over the world he once ruled over and guiding those who would succeed his fallen order in an attempt to right the wrongs he made in life.

Koi and the story of ParaChiMar belong to me.

Wow this is AWESOME! I still need to get better at painting wings in photoshop, my poor characters's wings need to be glossy like that, that's really inspring! (Back to the drawing board)
