Taban and Jaheem didn't start their lives off too badly. In fact, like Masud, their birth brought great fortune to their land. The twins were born to a royal coursing cheetah pair. When they were discovered, it was seen as both a sign from the gods and a great advantage- children with the speed, strength, and agility of the fair beasts combined with the ability to truly understand the words of their handlers. They were brought up to become great coursers and treated like royalty. Abeni, who was kept for a time in the same palace, confused her own life of hardship under the ownership of the humans, and feared for the little cats. When the shaman brought the two little bundles into camp she was more than happy to offer a helping hand in keeping an eye on the trouble makers.
